EEESEF Founder and Chairman Meets Canadian Ambassador H.E. Christopher Duggan in Almaty

The Euro-Eurasia Environmental Science & Education Foundation (EEESEF) attended an international mining industry exhibition and a Canadian conference held in Almaty, Kazakhstan. These events provided opportunities to meet representatives of government institutions, international organisations, and companies involved in the mining and natural resources sectors.

During the visit, EEESEF's Founder and Chairman met with H.E. Christopher Duggan, Ambassador of Canada to Kazakhstan, and engaged with other government and industry representatives. The discussions provided opportunities to explore potential cooperation between Canadian and Kazakh institutions in environmental protection, sustainable mining, scientific research, and responsible industrial development. Topics of interest included Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) principles, environmental monitoring, water resource protection, and the exchange of scientific knowledge and technological expertise.

The engagement reflected EEESEF's commitment to facilitating international academic and institutional cooperation, particularly in areas where Canadian scientific expertise and Kazakhstan's industrial development priorities may contribute to practical environmental solutions. It also supported EEESEF's broader objective of developing meaningful relationships that encourage responsible resource development, environmental sustainability, and long-term scientific collaboration between Canada, Kazakhstan, and the wider Central Asian region.

EEESEF Strengthens Academic and Scientific Cooperation with Al-Farabi Kazakh National University

Representatives of the Euro-Eurasia Environmental Science & Education Foundation (EEESEF) visited Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to explore opportunities for academic collaboration, scientific research, and technological innovation in environmental protection and sustainable development. 

During the visit, EEESEF held productive discussions with Professor Dr. Orazbayev Sagi and visited university departments and research facilities specialising in nanotechnology, and other advanced scientific disciplines. 

Discussions focused on potential cooperation in Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) practices, advanced water treatment technologies, environmental monitoring, applied scientific research, and the integration of emerging technologies into sustainable industrial development. The visit represents another important step in EEESEF's commitment to strengthening international academic partnerships, promoting knowledge exchange, and supporting practical scientific solutions to environmental challenges in Kazakhstan and the wider Central Asian region. This cooperation is institutional, academic, and non-commercial in nature.

EEESEF Explores Environmental Cooperation at Major Caspian Sea Desalination Project in Azerbaijan

The Euro-Eurasia Environmental Science & Education Foundation (EEESEF) conducted a site visit to the Caspian Sea Water Desalination Project in Sumqayit, Azerbaijan, a major water infrastructure initiative being developed under a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework. The project is sponsored by ACWA Power, with the Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency serving as the water off-taker and POWERCHINA HDEC and WETICO identified among the EPC contractors. 

The visit provided an opportunity to discuss potential environmental and scientific cooperation relating to seawater desalination, sustainable water resource management, advanced water purification technologies, and the environmental considerations associated with large-scale water infrastructure. Particular attention was given to opportunities for international knowledge exchange, environmental performance evaluation, responsible water management, and the application of ESG principles in infrastructure development. 

Through such international engagements, EEESEF seeks to promote scientific cooperation, encourage environmentally responsible technological solutions, and contribute to the long-term sustainability of essential water resources across the Caspian region and beyond. This cooperation is institutional, academic, and non-commercial in nature.

The Euro-Eurasia Environmental Science & Education Foundation (EEESEF) and the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) signed a Memorandum of Understanding to formalize research cooperation in environmental protection, with wastewater treatment and water purification identified as the partnership's primary focus.

Scope of Cooperation:
EEESEF and KBTU have established an institutional framework for cooperation in the following areas:

• Wastewater and wastewater purification research, integrating an electrochemical nitrogen-removal stage with a biological membrane system (A²O/MABR), working towards zero liquid discharge and removing nitrogen by electrochemical technology.

• Co-authored scientific publications, working papers, and technical reports under joint EEESEF–KBTU branding

• ESG and environmental research, including carbon accounting, circular economy, and industrial ecology

• Environmental impact and regulatory research under the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan (2021) and international standards

• Education, training, and capacity building — guest lectures, joint seminars, student internships, and short courses in ESG.

• Benchmarking against Chinese environmental law and international frameworks (GHG Protocol, GRI, IFC Performance Standards, ISO 14001)

• Independent findings and practical recommendations for improvement

The Assessment is an independent professional opinion, not a certification, licence, or regulatory approval, and is provided in furtherance of EEESEF's non-profit mandate.

Formal visit to Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU)

Scope of Visit:
EEESEF conducted a formal institutional visit to the Kazakh-British Technical University (KBTU) in Almaty, Kazakhstan, to engage with leadership, faculty, research departments and Professor Dr. Batryshev Didar. The visit aimed to explore potential areas of academic cooperation, joint scientific research, and non-profit educational initiatives across several key departments, including Engineering, Waste & Regeneration Oil, and Robotics Science & Research.

The primary areas of ongoing dialogue and future exploration include:

• Zero-Pollution Waste Oil Regeneration Research: Exploring collaborative scientific pathways to research the recycling of waste oil into pure base oil. This initiative focuses on developing closed-loop, eco-friendly regeneration processes that entirely eliminate chemical secondary pollution, avoid hazardous emissions, and reduce dependency on finite natural resources like crude oil.
• ESG Integration & Academic Sustainability Frameworks: Sharing knowledge on Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards to support educational development and explore how industrial ecology can be woven into academic research frameworks within Central Asia.

•   Robotics & Automation for Environmental Safety: Investigating collaborative opportunities in robotics science, focusing on automation technologies that can be deployed to safely handle hazardous materials, monitor emissions, or optimize waste sorting facilities without human health risks.
•  Capacity Building & Academic Mobility: Discussing future non-profit initiatives for knowledge exchange, student research opportunities, and joint scientific workshops between international experts and Kazakhstani engineering students.

Discussions are ongoing, and further meetings will follow to continue our dialogue and explore possible formal cooperation agreements aligned with our shared educational and environmental research goals.

The Euro-Eurasia Environmental Science & Education Foundation (EEESEF) conducted a formal institutional visit to Al-Farabi Kazakh National University (KazNU) in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The purpose of the visit was to establish an initial dialogue with faculty,researchers, and Professor Dr. Zharaskhan Saryyev exploring potential academic, scientific, and non-profit collaborative pathways aimed at advancing environmental research and educational infrastructure within the region.

• Environmental Science Research & Regional Fieldwork: Identifying opportunities for joint scientific research projects, ecological data collection, and coordinated fieldwork initiatives focused on the unique environmental ecosystems and climate challenges of Central Asia.
• Clean Technology Education & Curriculum Exchange: Exploring the exchange of educational methodologies, specialized course modules, and curriculum frameworks focused on clean technology, industrial ecology, and sustainable development.
• Alignment with UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Assessing how a future cooperative framework between EEESEF and KazNU can directly support and advance specific UN SDGs, particularly those concerning clean water, affordable and clean energy, climate action, and terrestrial ecosystems.
